Brighton and Hove is always bright and bustling in the summer time, despite the British weather. And while Brighton Palace Pier has been named Britain’s most visited tourist attraction outside London, there’s more to the city than fast rides and flashing lights.
From children’s food festivals to a big screen on the sand, you won’t be short of things to do with your children during the summer holidays.
Are your little ones barking mad for PAW Patrol? Good news - this August, two of PAW Patrol’s finest recruits, Chase and Marshall will be at Drusillas! They’ll be appearing in the Events Arena at intervals throughout the day.
You’d be pawsitively mad to miss these heroic pups.
Puppetry is one of the oldest and most magical theatre traditions, and is being revitalised this summer at Hove Museum. With fabulous family-friendly displays each and every day in August, children can fully embrace the world of puppetry and its artists. From exploring old and new stories to rich and colourful stage sets, it’s the perfect ‘rainy day’ activity.
Budding bakers, this one is for you. The Summer Kids’ Fest at Stanmer House is jam packed full of activities throughout the summer holidays, including four sessions with Cookery Doodle Doo. It’s an excellent opportunity to get stuck in with your little ones - plus they’ll learn how to bake quiches, pies, tarts, bread and more! They provide all the equipment and aprons, all you’ve got to do is turn up.
Why not keep creativity at the core of your children's summer with a creative writing workshop. Held at The Chimney House, these fun and friendly workshops are an excellent space for kids to express themselves in words and pictures. Imaginations - ready, set, go!
Brighton’s Big Screen launched this summer on the 29th of July, and throughout August it’ll feature live sport, blockbusters and classic family films on Brighton Beach! From Beauty and the Beast to The Muppets, spend a sunny afternoon on the sand - don’t forget the popcorn.
The Brighton & Hove food festival is child friendly and is a great family day out. From badge making to cupcake decorating to guess the spices (it’s harder than you think!) - there’s plenty to keep small hands busy. Donations from the weekend’s events will be supporting the Rockinghorse charity.
